Surrealism -- 1993

In France, 1924, the world's most illusive art movement was created. The overpowering ambition of Surrealism was to translate the secret associations which relate the inner world of a man to the exterior world containing him.

The Surrealist map-cap practitioners understood how going "too far" was the only course that was far enough in aesthetics.

"Naked thoughts and naked emotions are as vital as naked women," Surrealism leader Brenton argued. "It is our duty to undress them."

Who better than Karl Krogstad, the indefatigable Seattle film-maker, to turn his kinetic energies to the world of surrealism.

This rare documentary is the grandest attempt made to explain Surrealism.

The filmmaker searches those days in 1924 when Art was more than an adjective.
